An Artistic Statement for Lost Womyn's Space

My work here at Lost Womyn's Space explores the relationship between emerging sexualities and urban space.

With influences as diverse as Kierkegaard and Frida Kahlo, new tensions are crafted from both explicit and implicit layers.

Ever since I was a student, I have been fascinated by the ephemeral nature of gender politics and the human condition. What starts out as triumph soon becomes corroded into a dialectic of lust and power, leaving only a sense of nihilism and the prospect of a new synthesis.

As spatial phenomena become frozen through boundaried and critical practice, the viewer is left with an insight into the limits of our future.

Though I am in fact a former critical theory and philosophy major (true confessions time!), this "artistic statement" is pure horse patootie. A friend sent me a link to Arty Bollocks Generator, and I cobbled together "my statement" from playing at that site. It's lots of fun, and I highly recommend it for your amusement and edification. Although I have to admit, my statement sort of fits, no?
